Rally ("Rally," "we," "us," or "our") helps people discover things to do in New York City and make plans with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Rally (the website, app, and related services, together the "Service"), you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

Account information — when you sign up (including via Google sign-in), we receive your name, email address, and profile photo.
Profile and preferences — interests you select, and settings you choose.
Content you create — activities you like or save, plans you create or join, messages, photos, polls, and locations you share in chats, and bills you create or split.
Friends and connections — the people you connect with on Rally. If you choose to find friends from your contacts, we use that information only to suggest connections, with your permission.

Information we collect automatically

Usage and device data — pages viewed, features used, approximate device/browser information, and similar analytics, used to understand and improve the Service.
Location — if you grant permission, we use your approximate location to show nearby activities and distances. You can turn this off in your device settings.
Cookies and similar technologies — to keep you signed in and measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser.

2. How we use information

We use information to: provide and personalize the Service (including the "For You" feed and friend features); operate accounts and sign-in; enable plans, messaging, and bill-splitting; send you service and (if you opt in) newsletter emails; keep Rally safe and prevent abuse; understand usage and improve the Service; and comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share information

With other users — your name, profile photo, and activity (such as items you like or plans you join) are visible to friends and people in shared plans/chats, consistent with the app's features.
With service providers who run Rally on our behalf, including: Supabase (database, authentication, storage), Netlify (hosting and analytics), Brevo (email delivery), and Google (sign-in and mapping/place data). These providers may process your information only to provide their services to us.
For legal reasons — to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of Rally, our users, or others.
In a business transfer — if Rally is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party ads.

4. Third-party services and links

Rally links out to third parties — event pages, venues, ticketing sites, and payment apps (e.g., Venmo for splitting a bill). When you split a bill, Rally does not process or hold any money; it simply opens your chosen payment app. These third parties have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Review their policies before using them.

5. Your choices and rights

Access and update your profile information in the app.
Delete your account — contact us at hello@tryrallynow.com and we will delete your account and associated personal data, except where we must retain it by law.
Email preferences — unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link in each email; you may still receive essential service emails (like sign-in or password resets).
Location and contacts — control these permissions in your device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability). To exercise them, contact us.

6. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, then delete or anonymize it, unless a longer period is required by law.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information (including encryption in transit and access controls through our providers). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Rally is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Some activities listed on Rally are intended for adults and may carry their own age requirements (for example, 21+ for venues serving alcohol). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International users

Rally is operated in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, you understand your information will be processed in the United States.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with an updated date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
